(view original version of this piece.)

all caves are formed by water and the water never stops

What if I tell you we never leave.
That the falcon whose single feather
you guard still spirals sequoias to survive.

That the laughter of the father
in the photo on your mantle
is a spinning record of water
a circle steps onto.

What if I tell you we always exist
All things
equally perfect

Once
half asleep and feeling profoundly
like a visitor through the sky
I watched the sun rise
and became a curled up lily
long and stunning in an ordinary house.

Once
wet and green on the naked bed
I coaxed my own power out.
